I just read an article called Heading of a Problem from Lacrosse Magizine Online and it talked about the change of the shape of lacrosse head from the light bulb shape to more of a origanal traiangle shape. They are doing this becuase with the new shape of heads now it is hard for defenders to strip the ball beauce the ball get cuaght at the bottom of the head. They are trying to make it more of a challenge for attackmen and middies to get by D-poles.

This relates to me beucase I play lacrosse a lot and have gotten used the the heads. I've been playing since 5th grade and now as a Freshman in High School i have gotten used to the end and to think that they will change in 2010 scares me. I love the offset of the newer heads and the pinch of them that just come in stock. Hearing that all of that is going to change is not good. Hopfully for me and all of the other lacrosse players this new idea will fall threw and it wont happen.

This relates to the world becuase lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S right now and it's Canada's National sport and the word that the heads are changing is going to shock everone. Hopefully lacrosse will spread the Eroupe becuase then it will be huge. Most people are going to be a little angry with the NCAA leage managers becuase of the head modifications becuase they like they way it is now. I know I do

I recently read an article called Fight Hunger While Learning Vocab and it talked about a website that had you define a word givin and for every word you get right 20 grains of rice are donated for the United Nations World Food Program. You can go on the website but dont think you can answer all of the questions becuase some are very complicated. Others are designed for kids and just ordinary adults so that its not impossible to contribute food and feel good about yourself.

I think that this a great idea and this gets everyone involved in helping the world. If people do this then they have a good feeling that they helped someone today. Even if the only get 2 questions right they still helped. This is a great idea and I think other people should do this and then maybe we could feed all of the needy. This is just a little step to ending world hunger but maybe ever one will do this on little step and make it into a flight of stairs, this is just what the world needs to show how easy it could be if everyone contributed to end world hunger.

This relates to the world beucase it helps the worlds staving people. This will help a bunch of people if everyone helps. Also im sure that in other parts of the world they have similar types of things that riase money or collect food for the hungry.

I rencently read an article called Consequences for missed practices in the ESPN lacrosse forums. It was a womens lacrosse coach asking about what they should do when there players dont come to practice and how they should make them want to come instead of getting punished.

I have not missed a practice without being unaccused but some of my team mates have and usually they miss the game that is coming up or get their playing time cut. If they start and miss practice they dont start. It really depends on how many practices they miss and when they miss it. If they miss practice on a day where you just play games, like after a win on a By week then they shouldnt be punished. If the individual misses multiple practices and doesnt have an excusse then they should be benched or the coach should make the whole team run or something to get it through there heads that missing practice is not good and everyone will be punished. If they miss a practice before the game then they definatly shouldnt play becuase they wont know the plays and they will just mess things up.

This relates to the world becuase im sure new time coaches or even old expericenced coaches are still having trouble dealing with players missing practice. The coaches should ask the players what would make them not miss practice and then work together off of that. Most coaches are the same in that they all want to win but sometimes if a great player does wrong they will bench them just for an example to the rest of the team and it doesnt matter which sport it is.

I recently read an article called Skier alive after burial in avalanche a skier is alive after being burried by an avalanche at Zimmerman Lake and Montgomery Pass Trail, west of Fort Collins. he was burried for 10 min before his friends dug him out. He was dug out at around 3:30 and hospitalized. This is just one of the many miracles that happen everyday. There have been stories of avalanche survivors and lucklie this one ended good. He was also lucky he was only burried for 10 min.

This relates to me becuase I cant imagine being burried under snow but I can imagine how good it would feel to save someone that is. I would like to someday save someone or many people like that because helping other out makes me feel good about myself.

This relates to the world becuase avalanches happen a lot and miracales like this. Others are worse but they still are miracles. Hopefully the unlucky people are saved in time like this one.

I just read an article called King of Pop may reunite with Jackson 5 in the Denver Post and it spoke about Michal Jackson joining up again with the other Jackson 4 who were also his brothers. They will reunite for a tour and its not definate but there is word of its happenings. The last tour they had together was in 1984 for their Victory album.

This relates to me because i like some of the old Jackson 5 songs but not so much the " new" MJ. I think that it might be cool to see them all together and see if they lost their touch. Michal is a great dancer and singer. Nevertheless this tour might not work because of all the people that dislike MJ. If it works out great the other brothers will get paid and maybe do the tour once or twice more.

This relates to the world becuase there are so many people that are into Michal Jackson and the Jackson 5. I think people will be pleased to here about this tour around the world. And even if they cant get tickets they will watch on TV. Michal is so popular from being in the Jackson 5 and hits like thriller that everyone knows who he is. Also people know him for being kind of unique you could say.

This tour will be interesting and I am happy for the ones that will go but I think im going to pass and this concert.

I recently read an article called Graffiti cameras on patrol and it talked about a new system where there are hidden cameras around Denver to catch taggers who draw graffiti on buildings and other public places. This is an illegal act therefore the city is trying to stop it. These cameras also could pick up people doing other illegal things so they actually have many purposes and it was only meant to catch taggers.
This relates to me because I used to see graffiti all the time back in NY and I always wounded when the city was going to try and stop it. I also knew people that did graffiti and they never got caught because the systems were bad and no one cared enough to change it. I’m glad this camera’s are up because the city of Denver is a nice place and it would be even nicer without all the taggers and criminals.
This relates to the world because taggers are everywhere and so are criminals. Most cities try and stop it but others don’t. Nevertheless I think that every city in the world should at least try to stop taggers because they just make beautiful cities ugly and full of foul words and pictures.

I recently read an article called More than half of Colorado teen driver’s text message and it talked about how student drivers text message while they are driving.” Fifty-one percent of Colorado teen drivers admitted to text messaging and 66 percent said they used their cell phones while driving, according to results of a survey released today”. This is not ok and people should do something about it. In schools they should talk about how it’s not safe to use your phone while driving because it could lead to a severe accident or death.

This relates to me because in two years I will be driving and I know for a fact I won’t be using my phone and if I am it will be through a wireless set up. That’s what I think is strange is that people took the time to make these wireless set ups and people, especially teens don’t get them and then they get into accidents. This goes along with the remember club in my school I think also. Buckling your seatbelt is very important just like not using a phone while driving is dangerous. It’s a distraction and I’m glad people are pulled over for it because they are making the roads an unsafe place.

This relates to the world because everyone uses there phone or does something while driving. Congratulations if you don’t and those people are making the roads safer but for all the people that put on make up and maybe read or in this case use their phone, you are making the roads an unsafe place to be. I think we as a country and world should do something about multi-tasking while driving because it’s becoming a problem.

I recently read an article called Women face new charges in death of 3-year-old and it talked about a mother and her room mate getting charged for murder of the 22 year old mother’s 3 year old daughter. The baby was brought to the hospital only weighing 22 pounds and was suffering from dehydration. They starved this baby almost until her death. She later died in the hospital after the doctors tried everything to make her better.

This relates to me because I have a 4 year old sister and I cant even imagine what I would do if someone hurt her especially my own mother. But first of all that wouldn’t happen but it has happen to others around the world.

This relates to the world because on TV there are stories of children being shook or staved or being abused in sick, crazy ways all the time. I think people should try to stop this because babies are people too and a life is a life.

I recently read an article called Teen guilty of torturing autistic boys tortoise and it talked about a 18 year old boy that went into a back yard and grabbed a tortoise. He cut the arms and legs of it and then slit its throught and through it agianst the brick wall. The kid was only 7 and he has autism, his first words spoken were to the tortoise and now hes afriad the same thing is going to happen to him. The man was aqused of hurting animals in the past so to go along with his 160 days in jail he has to give up his iguana, dog and snake. He wrote letters to the family apolligizing but i dont think its enough.

I think that 160 days in jail is not enough. He tortured an autistic boys tortoise. He doesnt even know the kid and the toroise didnt bite him or anything. He went into the yard on his own and hurt it just becuase it was fun for him maybe in a sick way. People like this should go to jail for maybe 2 years and never be let alone around animals. This is a sad story.

This relates to me becuase I have heard of thing like this and they always get away with just a little jail time and the same thing happens. I dont get why they dont get into more trouble. Its crazy to then see these people back on the street and the same thing will probebly happen unless they change or get beat up in jail becuase im sure people in jail like kids and animals and having a man almost kill an autistic kids animal would not be something the other jail mates would like.

This relates to the world becuase I have read of and even seen on TV of people in Mexico, Spain, and other parts of America harming animals in cruel ways and I dont think its good. The thing they do to animals might be a little worse but i have never heard of someone going into a yard of someone they dont know and hurting an animal for no reason. This guy must have problems.

I recently read an article called Why Wireless by Carl Fisch and it talked about having a wireless set up in the library for personaly owned devices like lap tops for students teachers and even parents to use. I think this is a great idea and that this will push people to use technoligy more and have freedom to do so.

This relates to me becuase i go to this school and I havent used this yet but plan to maybe use it in the futrue becuase I do have my own lap top and to have it in school might be prity cool. Although I wouldnt really want to bring it in becuase loosing it would be bad I might try it one day. For all my other more technoligy inclined peers they are going to love this ne set up in the library and will probebly use it as much as possible.

This relates to the world becuase others schools use this too. The high school I was going to go to had wireless personal set ups in their library also. Im sure that other countrys do the same as well and if they dont maybe they should look into it becuase it would help them out and they can become one of those technoligy structured schools just like AHS.

i read an aticle called Do schools have birth-control role? and it talked about schools being allowed to give out birth conrtoll pills in health clinics. It talked about how many girls in CO are getting pregnant and that is the main cuase of girls dropping out of high school. 54.5 girls get pregnat in the city of denver and 24.3 get pregnant else where in CO. They also talked about giving them out in Middle Schools as well as High Schools.

I disagree with giving them out in middle schools becuase students that age or anyone that age shouldnt be having sexual intercourse. In high school I can understand becuase kids start turning into adults or they think they are adults and start doing "adult things". Giving out birth control pills at high school should be ok but i think that the parents of the girl should sign a waver telling the school its ok to give them the pill. Kids shouldnt be taking pills without their parents or guardians knowing.

This relates to the world becuase kids are kids and if kids do those types of thing here the world is bound to have others doing it somewhere else in the world. Espeically in third world countrys I have heard of children getting pregnant very early and if they had birth conrtol pills they might be okay.

I read a article recently called Red Sox fans arrive with brooms and it spoke about how the Boston fans actually came to the game with brooms expecting a sweep. A women told two men holding tow brooms with a Red Sox flag in between them that "We’re a bunch of freshman and sophomores playing juniors and seniors,""But no matter what — we went there. We’re getting the experience we need for next time." I agree with that but she just put down the Rockies calling them freshman and sophmores. They have to be good if they are on the world series. It is a fact that Boston is the best team in the American league and that league is better i think that the National league which the Rockies are the champions of. I personaly hate Boston coming from New York and being a Yankee fan and im not a rockie fan yet but I root for whoever is playing Boston. I think that just seeing fans in the stands all cockie with their broom sticks should be enough insentive for the Rockies to go out and win. This relates to the world becuase Americas world series is like the rest of the worlds World Cup in soccer.

I just readan article from the Rockie Mountain News called Anything for a Ticket by Sara Burnett. It talked about how people were trying to get tickets for the World series Rockies Vs. Boston game and they couldnt. One man said "They get to the World Series and they get greedy."Scalpers were selling tickets on site for $500 to $600 and thats about the same price as retail tickets but on e-bay or other sites tickets were being sold for even more. People were complaing that they have gotten other tickets for the rockies at the front ticket booth but now they cant. Police even sent all the ticket searchers home becuase it was creating a fire hazard. Others just stood out side and begged with signs. People dressed up dogs and others held up signs saying 2 tickets please. A young boy held a sign saying "Two little leaguers and their dad need tickets." Others sat on the computer or on a phone for hours waiting for tickets.

This relates to me becuase i have wanted tickets for games but havnt got them. I rather watch it on TV becuase there are always the fans that go a little to crazy and its annoying. But i can understand how frusterating it can be to either be on a phone or computer for up to 10 hours and then not get tickets, and then think that was a waste of a day.

This relates to the world becuase im sure in England or any Eroupian counrty has massive lines and the same thing going on the the world cup for soccer. Those fans are even crazier so im sure they could stay on a phone for days and wait online for days also. They probebly go through the same thing and some get shut down with no tickets and others come out lucky. They also have scalpers and people holding signs too just like us.

Personally I rather just watch on TV.

I read a article called Allowing Re-Takes To Improve Student Learning and it talked about how this bio. class let the students re-do tests so they could improve their leanring and understanding. I agree with this. I think that even if a students does bad on a test they should talk it over with a teacher then be able to re-do it. I also think that the student should come in on their own time to do so. This way if they dont re-do it its their fault and it shows that they dont care or they are just absent minded.

This relates to me becuase in math my teacher is now making us re-do tests if we dont get 100%. I think its good for us and it pushes us to get a 100% the first time but if we dont we dont have to worry about it becuase we can re-do it and hopefully do better the second time around.

Below is PLN 11 about Obesity 'not individuals' fault' I forgot to add that, sorry!
I just read the article called Obesity 'not individuals' fault' and it talked about just what the title says. It talked about how the obiese people dont have to be obiese they just either chose to by eating fatty food and not exercising or just being lazy. In one year in Britian there was $7 million that was put into helping the obiese in hospitals and careing for them. In 40 years that could be up to 46 million dollars. Sometimes its in the childrens genes that they are going to be large and overwieght but people can help themsleves out a little bit I think. i personaly think that a way to not be obeise is to not be so lazy. Ive seen people drive around a parking lot for hours just to get the spot in the front and then there are about 100 empty spots in the back of the parking lot but people are to lazy. Some people drive to their nieghbors house, that is very lazy. On Tv now they have these comicals about people losing wieght and being more active. It shows a huge butt on the ground and then a man says " Oh someone must have lost it playing with their kids". I think those are great comericals becuase it just shows how lazy people are these day that they wont even play with there kids or park further away just to get a walk in. This article also said they might put a higher tax on unhealthy foods. I think this a good idea. This way the overwieght people wont eat it and the people that arent overwieght wont get overwieght. This relates to the world but one this article was written in Britan so there has to be an obesity problem there and I know for a fact that there is an obesity problem here. I'm sure not only Britan and the U.S are the only ones with problems so there has to be more unless every other country is perefect which I doubt. I think that people should get off there butts and not be so lazy anymore and get out there and lose wieght if they have to and the ones that dont should just stay healthy for a healthier world.

The students said that this is not an " ok" thing to do and that this is just as bad if not worse than reading someone elses mail. Usaullt text messages are personal or they could just be asking what the homework is or asking whats up. It is true that students in the past have been cuaght dealing drugs via text message and telling them the detials about it. I no this becuase in my school in Long Island a couple of kids were caught with drugs and there phones were taken away and their text messages were read and it spoke about the drug deal and when and where. I still dont agree with this phone check though. It is thier phone not the schools and it is illegal to do such an action. Agian text messages are personal and if the school reads everyones they would mostly read peoples coversations and boy friends talking to thier girls thats probebly it. There are exeptions like the few kids that do talk about horrible things like school shootings or drugs I think just the suspected kids with a record should be checked. Maybe not even them becuase it is illegal but if the school really thinks something is going to happen with a certin kid or group of students they should talk to the police instead of taking it into thier own hands. This relates to the world becuase this has probebly accured somewhere else and kids are kids no matter where they are so they probebly responded the same way as the kids at this school.

Sometimes you go through life hating something or dislikeing it and then one day you just love the thing you hated. It sounds wierd but in the last blog a read called How do you feel about what you know by Dave this exact thing happen. He had social studies teachers in high school that were coaches and prity much thats it. They werent good teachers at al but still they werent getting fired. He didnt understand. He didnt like social studies at all becuase of them. later in life he couldnt think of doing anything else. He loved telling stories and what stories are more interesting then our own United States history. So he became a teacher. His daughter also became a Social Studies teacher, He rubbed off on her i guess. In my History class my teacher is one of the football coaches but he is an exeption. He teaches in a way where we teach ourselves together but at the same time he teaches us and the class is so much fun. He makes the history fun which im sure Dave did becuase he probebly didnt want to be like the teachers he had. Also it is true all of my History teachers were coaches. I dont know what the deal is with coaches teaching history but i dont mind becuase most of them make it fun and some of them are actually good teaches like my 9th grade teacher at the moment is great.
This relates to the world becuase the U.S cant be the only country with coach/history teachers and the kids probebly would agree with me that they do make it fun and only a few actually teach you to learn instead of teaching to get paid. This story prity much says the thing you hate in life are sometimes the things you fall in love with later in life.

I recently read Bombed Tests Lead To Quality Discussions by JSeidel. She spoke about how her class all bombed a test and instead of not doing anything about it she sat the students down and spoke to them like a family speaks when theres a probelem. She asked them about why they failed and what changes she should make in teaching them. This was a level 3 spanish class taking a level 1 and 2 review test. The class talked about what changes should be made about her teaching and what is good and what is bad.
This relates to me becuase in one of my classes everyone did bad on the same test and the teacher calmly spoke to us and asked us what we werent getting. We told him about it and how he should explain more in depth and how he should help us when we ask for help instead of saying " Do it yourself" becuase that doesnt work. He changed and then the next test we did better. Also ive had teacher who just yell at the class when we do bad on a test or even HW. That doesnt help at all it just lowers our self esteim.
This relates to the world becuase most teachers are probebly like this on spanish teacher in that they like to not yell and just talk through the probeblems. Maybe in some places its not like that but it should be and maybe one day that will change and hopfully every teacher would rather talk through a problem then yell. Its easier to work for a talker than a yeller.

But using these lap tops will help us out in the future for sure. Maybe we will net cam with other students around the world. I belive that rewarding someone for doing a good thing is great, for getting good grades, or maybe reaching one of your goals. In the blog " Is payment for good grades legitimant motivation for this day and age" and it talked about giving children money for doing well in school. This will motivate the kids and make them want to do well but what happens if they just try to do good for the money and not themsleves. Maybe the parents or guardian of the child should pay him for his first good grade and then tell him/her that they will not be paying them for the next. If they do good on that one they arent in it for the money they are in it for themselves. I agree with the whole getting paid for money thing and I think I might try that in my house. It will motivate me to learn and then when I do good I'll get rewared. This relates to the classroom in a bunch of ways. One is that i will or anyone who is getting paid to do well will pay attention more if they didnt in the past. I know I would. Also kids would probebly study a lot more so they get paid. This relates to the world becuase im sure this doesnt happen just in the U.S. In other countries this getting paid for Hw probebly happens and the effects on the students are most likely the same. Most kids think and act in the same way.
"While money (or even the promise of acceptance into a 'good college') may offer

would be better served to invest our energies and finances in re-imagining the
original value proposition that engendered school to society in the first
place."

Tech Age in U.S

I just read one of the many Jeff Utech's blogs and i found it very interesting. It talked about hot the U.S is becoming more technical and almost more furturistic. With the self check out at the store. Or going on websites to upload pictures. That reminds me of the Credit card commercails and how fast buying things are these days. Or how i could order Dominos pizza online if i wanted to. This relates to me becuase i have orded Dominos online and i agree with Jeff that everying is becomong more tech in the U.S. In my english class we use lap tops and that is very high tech. In NY at my old school we even had Mac computers with itunes and music mixers. Using lap tops in class is good for us and gets us ready for when we are older and get jobs and have to work on the computer. This relates to the world becuase soon everyone will be in the tech age. People will be buying food online more becuase they already even have that. Schools wont have books, maybe just laptops.

Also they were lucky it wasnt lunch time becuase other people might have gotten injured or even killed. The denver post should have told the readers why the women in the acura crashed into the store. Saying she was out of control is very vage. It was a good idea for the store owner to get the women out of the car becuase she needed to be rushed to the hospital. Everyone is lucky only two people were hurt.

I agree with this seminar and i think that killing animals for game and not for food is wrong. You shouldnt just kill a living animal or a living anything for fun. If you do you should be fined a great some of money. Womens rights are also a good thing to talk about becuase even today people dont give women enough credit. They do a lot of very hard things around the house and then they also could have a job. Teaching these people is a great idea and i think that this seminar should take place in other parts of the world to educate others in these affairs

Hsu: Denver Post.

"Hsu's attorney, argued that Hautzinger's figure was excessive and that his client's illness made him incapable of traveling far. Eliff did not elaborate on the illness. "
If the attorney didnt say what his illness was then he should travel. They should just leave him in jail for life and no bail should be made. he should also give back all the money and pay the sum of money that the judge makes him.
